Content Marketing: bad habits that you should eliminate.

Navegação do artigo

Content marketing was booming during 2012, and will certainly continue to have great influence over the next year. Why not set some New Year's resolutions now? In this context, there are very common bad habits. Still, they are all capable of being resolved. Second Pamela Vaughan of HubSpot, companies that maintain an active blog have 55% more visitors, 97% more links and 434% more indexed pages than companies that do not have a blog. A blog for your business will add a lot of value, so why not start 2013 by getting rid of bad habits and taking your content marketing to the next level?

Six bad habits in content marketing

1. Posting on the blog without a defined frequency

The more times a company posts, the more traffic and leads it will produce. Businesses that update their blogs at least twenty times a month, generate more than five times more traffic than those who update less than four times a month. Businesses that post at least twenty times a month also generate four times more leads than those that don't update.

2. Poor planning and coordination

You will need a plan that everyone in your company follows. Your website, activity on redes sociais, press releases, newsletters and email marketing should be coordinated and prepared to respond to each of the niches and channels around a clear and unified message. Throughout your content marketing you will need to communicate the unique value that your company can add by solving the problems of existing customers and finding solutions for future ones.

3. Do not use incentives for action

Always include incentives to action in your blog articles. Offering high-quality premium content will increase engagement and help with the decision-making process for your next customers. Informative offers, such as ebooks, papers or webinars work well because people reading your blog will be interested in more free information from you.

4. Lack of variety

Your blog should focus on various topics that are of relevant interest to the area in question. While traditional articles are necessary and important for generating traffic to your website, there are other forms of content you can use to add some variety to your content marketing. It’s very easy to fall into a content creation rut – producing the same types of content over and over again. Other types of content you can use include: infographics, webinars, SlideShare presentations, video tutorials and cartoons.

5. Poor engagement

It is important that you treat all of your content marketing as a communication channel that gives you the opportunity to reach your target audience. You should always respond to comments and questions in a timely and friendly manner.

6. Not having a game plan for social media sharing

You should have a clear strategy for sharing and promoting your content. Evaluate yourself and discover all opportunities. Visit the biggest websites about your activity; share on main redes sociais, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.

Leverage your content on networks. Who are the key influencers and opinion leaders in your industry? If you don't know them, you should understand how you can start communicating with them. Comment, ask questions through all available channels, including links to your content where appropriate. You will gain credibility and online status. Find out who the influencers are…

By not making these mistakes you will be able to achieve more traffic, generate more leads and more business. Get organized and, in 2013, handle your content marketing with strategy and detail.
