Conversion funnel, or conversion funnel is a name given to a technique used in conjunction with the conversion rate.
The goal of conversion rate optimization is to ensure that your conversion funnel is as effective as possible, leading your website visitors to make the decisions you want them to make. For example, for most online stores, the goal is to get users to buy something, sign up for a service, or both.
Optimizing your conversion funnel is essential to ensuring you get the most out of your website visits.
Every online store has a conversion funnel, whether they are aware of it or not. If you don’t know that you have a conversion funnel on your website, it’s because it’s not optimized, which will cause you to lose sales.
What is a conversion funnel?
Think of your website as a map. The visitor lands on your page, which is the first stop. The second stop is when they find the product they are looking for. The third stop might be when they put the item in their cart, and the fourth stop is when they decide they really want the product and pay.
The conversion funnel guides visitors through this process, taking them from the common action of opening your page, to the much more specific action of making a purchase, or subscribing.
Let’s look at three examples of conversion funnels to get a better idea of how they work.
Contact funnel
1- The visitor arrives at the website
2- Visit a page of interest
3- It is led to obtain more information, causing us to obtain a lead.
This is a classic funnel for an institutional or service website. The goal is to get the visitor to submit a contact form, from which they will become a potentially qualified lead for our objectives.
Purchase funnel
1- The visitor arrives at the website.
2- Visit a category page.
3- you arrive at a product page.
4- add items to cart.
5- do the checkout.
6- enter address and shipping details.
7- select payment method.
8- order confirmation.
With each step, the actions become more specific and definitive. Visitors move from one page to another by clicking on call-to-action buttons. The end result of this funnel is completed with a conversion, which is a purchase.
Newsletter subscription funnel
1- visitor arrives at the landing page.
2- Enter your email to download a free shopping guide.
3- Website sends visitor to confirmation page, where they can download the guide.
In this version, the reward for taking action (entering the email) is the acquisition of a guide or other element that encourages subscription to the newsletter.
Optimizing your funnel so that it effectively guides your website visitors to the bottom of the funnel is the best way to make the most of your website visits, and to improve the effectiveness of your other marketing strategies.
